It occurred to me the other day that, in common with anyone over the age of 35, I find it totally impossible to understand any of the words of what passes for Popular Music these days. It's probably just as well, as I guess that the words are actually not worth bothering with anyway, and the whole idea of "pop" music(?) is to provide an accompaniment for the weird gyrations that pass for "dancing". And all the time the Music Industry tries to persuade us that what it spews out is serious art performed by remarkable talent. I just had the mischievous thought that it could all be exposed for the sham that it is by taking a leaf out of the book of the Saturday Morning Cinema Clubs and insisting that any "pop" performance on TV be accompanied by mandatory subtitles, complete with a bouncing ball, so that we could ALL enjoy the rubbish that passes as "lyrics". A sort of nationwide mass karaoke! Martin
