hi there everyone,i thought i'd give all fellow members my views on this 1981 movie. this movie was of course the great Ray Harryhausen's swan song before he retired. the movie was backed by M.G.M.;with a multi-million dollar budget. Ray's brillant trickery was in danger of being overshadowed by the starry cast that M.G.M,brought in. Under the protective hand of Zeus(Laurence Oliver),we see Perseus(Harry Hamlin);grow from child to manhood. Befriended by Ammon(Burgess Meredith),Perseus is blessed with a magic sword and sheild together with a helmet of invisibilly. The Kraken, the large sea monster, makes an appearance as it totally destroys a city who's ruler has offenend Zeus. The goddess Thetis(Maggie Smith)is not pleased by this or the factthat her own son Calibos, has been transformed into a cloven hooved monstrosity. Meanwhile the course of true love leads Perseus to the door of the beauiful Andromeda(Judi Bowker)- but Thetis makes progress very difficult because her own son has taken a fancy to this beauiful girl!. Poor old Queen Cassiopeia(Sian Phillips)is caught in the middle as prospective suiters for Andromeda's hand must first answer a strange riddle. To answer the riddle Perseus captures the slick flying horse Pegasus, which takes him to the liar of Calibos-and a exciting fight breaks out in the murky swamp. A whole lot more arise and it becomes clear that Perseus must destroy the Kraken before Andromeda can be his.poor lad. Our hereos then find the lair of the Stygian witches-who tell Perseus that only the lethal glare of the Gorgon can destroy the sea monster. After arriving on the isle of the dead, our heroes kill Dioskilos, the two headed dog, whose lips drip poision, perseus enters the temple of Medusa with her head of writhing snakes-this is clearly one of Ray's finest creations. After a spectacular fight, the Gorgon's head is severed, but more pearlis lie ahead before the final confrontation with the deadly Kraken... This was one of M.G.M's last three parters that they released on 8;and its brillant family entertainment, including a clock work owl called bubo. the sound is excellent, the editing faultless, the print could have been better;it was like that in 1981. Dont let this put you off!,its well worth tracking down. You will not be dissapointed in this. My copy is squeededonto a 800ft spool.excellent.

Hi guys, I TOO am impressed I re-recorded the CLASH of the TITANS. Believe me, it was NUTS. I used a GS1200...and the result is simply beautiful! I PREFER film over any video format, but the sound on the Laserdisc has always impressed me. So, years ago, i decided why not all my films? I am obsessive about it now. But, it's it's great fun, when an audience watches a Film aka MAME PROMO and it's IN STEREO. From cds and Lasers, whereever..but, MAN, what sound!Like, I've always said, adds so much to a film, and ALL of my films have been redone into Stereo, whenever possible. Even my Mono films get redone. I wish everyone lived close by, i'd say, let's watch CLASH OF THE TITANS in DOLBY STEREO.
