I need to share my GS1200 nightmare. As I said in another post, I shipped my projector off Monday by UPS to Leon Norris in PA. I get a call yesterday from someone saying they delivered it to the wrong house and they would try to get it to Leon. Now that person's number is disconnected and I have no idea where the projector is! I can't believe this is happening.

Hey Brian,
If the unit was insured and they lost it.. you can get the refund check and see if Mitsos still has his GS. It is in good condition and would just need a clean up by Leon...

Surely the couier company will have a signature from whoever took delivery of the machine? That way you should be able to trace them!

OK, crisis over. My GS1200 was actually dropped off at a neighbor of Leon's who knocked on his door and gave him the projector. Wow, what a stressful day I had worrying about it. Leon already has it opened up and is working on it. What a relief! [Smile]

I just want to report that I received my GS1200 back from Leon Norris and I couldn't be happier. Not only did he fix the glaring problems he gave it a thorough cleaning and it's now running smoother and quieter than it ever has. I feel like I got a new projector! I highly recommend Leon and his work.

Spoke to soon... after watching just a couple of films it appears the switch controlling the top threader has died again. I can't get the threader to release and I'm very frustrated! [Confused]

I guess it's going to have to go back to Leon...

Brian

I am going to suggest a simple fix you can do yourself it is not recomended, but it works by turning the projector into manual threading, by simply wrapping a narrow electrical tie-wrap "end to end" on the release solenoid holding the mechanical release in.

It wont do any harm to the projector it just means when threading you have to hold the threading button down until the film passes the bottom sprocket. I would also fasten another tie-wrap around the solenoid in a way to secure the first wrap so it cant fall off, make sure they are tight and secure. I turned my GS into manual threading a few years ago with no regrets.

Brian I have only mentioned this as a last resort, replacing the switch is the proper thing to do, but if you are getting to the stage of throwing it out the window then give it a go.

Brian and Graham,

My GS had already been converted to manual threading when I bought it, it's operated fine and I don't hanker after auto threading.

Brian, it's certainly worth considering Grahams suggestion.
