Hello

I am looking for someone with equipment and knowledge to re-record a movie sound track for me.

The print is BRAINSTORM in scope complete feature on 2 x 1200 foot reels.

I prefer this be done with the Pedro sync box and DVD. Please name your price for this service and let's get this done right away with quick turnaround. I'll send the print anywhere as long as you are very experienced and can promise a great job when finished.

The stereo sound on the print now is very bad. Level is not consistent and there are drop outs through out. I bought this print 2nd hand and it appears it could have been a trade in after a botched rerecording gone bad. But I really don't know.

Chip I do this regularly but that wouldn't be very cost effective for you to send the print over...
Rate is 15.00 euros per 400ft reel plus s&h.
I can also retrack some digests (I have a list of roughly 50 titles).
Still, if someone can't help in the US, contact me off site. (See our last feature transaction for email.)

Chip - clean your film first. That may be part of the dropout problems. If not, bear in mind you may end up sending that to someone who does great work, but your magnetic track itself may be physically damaged beyond re-recording.

I agree with Brad on this. Some mag tracks are much worse than others and trying to re-record on them might even worsen things... If you can, do a test recording on the leaders first in order to assess whether redubbing can be useful or not.

I agree with the other guys here in that dropouts and recording dont get worse over time like this unless there is another underlying cause.

I would guess that the film has bad stripe and may be getting thin in places with each projection in which case you will never get a good recording on it. I take it the film is not stored near anything which give out a magnetic field?

Thank you Brad and Maurizio, this is exactly what I was about to suggest to Chip before sending his print anywhere.
What a great team work... [Big Grin]

Chip,

If you should send your print for a re-recording, definitely send it the Lance Alspuagh. I can personally vouch for the extremely HQ of his recordings. He first takes the stereo recording and remixes it for the specific kind of sound stripe that you have, (quite nifty) and only then, after equalizing the whole thing, will he re-record the film.

But I second, third, fourth and fifth the other comments. Even if you get this re-recorded, with a faulty sound stripe, you may get a magnificent recording, but you'll still have the drop-offs in sound at the same places, which would be most nerve-wracking especially if you get it re-recorded!
