I watched a new film last night, but when I was ready to start I heard a random popping in my speakers.
-Suffice it to say I didn't enjoy the film as much as I should have. The popping came through the sound track too.
After it was over I accepted the idea that I had an ailing projector and started trying to isolate where the problem was. I was operating my ST-1200HD and I also had my ST-800 on the table. Both were plugged in to power and to the sound system. I tried unplugging one machine: still there. I tried unplugging the other: still there. I tried unplugging both: it stopped.
Then I plugged both back in...and unplugged the laptop I had plugged into the same outlet strip: peace at last!
Guess I need to be a little more careful what I allow on that power strip.
I'll watch that reel again tonight, maybe even enjoy it!

I ran into a similar situation, but that involves my music recording. I had a distinct "buzz" in my headphones, and checked everything for over thirty minutes trying to find the problem ... it turned out to be the damned headphones.
I had that problem with my optical sound projector once, but I think it came down to a faulty optical sound track that just had a lot of "bumps".
