Hi folks,
does anyone know if Derann ever issued a complete print of "The Rite of Spring" (the dinosaur-segment) from Disney's "Fantasia" on super 8mm?

I once bought "The Rite of Spring" from them, but the first part (where the volcanoes burst out and the young earth is flooded) is missing; all I got is the last two thirds of the film, all in all about 80 Meters of film.

I asked Gary about that but never got a satisfying answer. He only confirmed that Derann printed the Rite of Spring and that their print is as far as he knew complete.
Well, the copy I got does not contain the complete sequence.

So, my question again: Did Derann print the complete sequence or didn't they? Maybe one of you guys here in the forum knows..

Thank you very much!
Best regards,
Michael Scheck

Hello from Los Angeles,

"The Rite of Spring" segment does not contain the Volcano segment. Derann never printed or obtained these scenes for their "Fantasia" segments. I also inquired with them about this and they confirmed that those particular scenes are not available anywhere in S8 as far as they know. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, Lance.
This sure helps.
It's a sad thing they never printed that particular segment. It is, in my humble opinion, one of the best in the intire film.
Oh, well...
Best regards and greetings from Switzerland,
Michael

I absolutely love the Fantasia extracts, and I'm rapidly closing in on having all of them.

One really great thing Derann could offer is a reel containing any of the missing bits so the entire thing could be unified (example: the section introducing "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" as well as the very beginning and end of the film.

My Favorite: The Nutcracker. Any number of times I've played this, rewound it and then played it again!

Steve, I may be wrong but I seem to recall Phil Sheard at Classic Home Cinema releasing the opening and closing bits on a 200ft reel few years back.

He really does his bit for us collectors that guy!

Just checked an old list...it was the original titles and intro.

Unfortunately advertised as limited prints from Germany, but they're out there somewhere!

Steve, try the German sites for a Piccolo release.
