From the Kempski catalog.

Claimed to be the worlds brightest and cheapest Super8-Xenon projector, using a horiontal 500W Xenon lamp, which is claimed to give 750% more light on the screen as with an ordinary 150W Halogen lamp!

The igniter which is placed in the lamphouse together with a electroformed reflector is made of pure nickel!. In this reflector the lamp shown above 500W XBO lamp is placed. Three-way adjustment from the outside is possible. The lamphouse has a lock system for personal safety, plus a safety device that switches the lamp off in case of insufficient cooling.

This projector seems very impressive, has anyone ever come across or used one?

Graham.

Graham,

That has to be the 'White Tiger' of Super-8 home projection. I remember when the regular Fumeo was introduced late in the Super-8 days, and already then it was so unobtainable as to be almost mythological. The Xenon version I heard mentioned somewhere along the way, but never saw.

In, what, maybe 20-50 screening rooms across the globe, that beast is now sitting, most likely never to be sold.... [Roll Eyes]
I don't even want to think about what an EBay auction of that would wind up being.

500W through a Super-8 gate...what would it look like?

Claus.

I see on ebay you can buy a chinese video projector lamp of say 1000 1500 2000 lumens etc for around £25 new last up to 8000hrs, maybe these are going to be a good option for maga light projectors 8 or 16mm ??? they look similar to that lamp.
Best Mark.

That machine weighs around 200lbs and really is for a dedicated projection booth. Not to be moved until you have your friends over unwittingly!
Ignacio from Spain is the only member I have ever known to have one. Also I think Paul Foster had one at one point. He was asking around $5000 Euros I think. I can't imagine the shipping cost!
A beauty for sure but if you want the BEST...that would be it. Ignacio's machine was hand built for him by Fumeo (As I think they all were built to order) and his is a Stereo Machine. Somewhere on the net are some reviews of this machine by him. Suprisingly I think he says the HTI lamp is brighter than the 500Watt Xenon. However the Xenon is cheaper per hour to use.
