First off, a big thank you to Wayne Tuell who sent a test film with which to try out the 'purple monster', as well as to James Savage who was ready to do the same.
Well, once again, they don't build them like they used to. God knows what this one went through, but it runs just fine. No scratching, no tearing of sprockets, and the vari-speed control is nice and accurate. Here she is in action with Wayne's film:
So, a little machine saved from the landfill. I am happy to have it, not necessarily because I will run it a lot, but the notion of it still being around and operating is a small tribute to old-fashioned mechanical design, and it would be a pity for it just to be thrown away simply because no one cared enough anymore. Maybe at some point I will find more info about Fodeco, and what role they played in the history of home movie entertainment.
Claus.
