Hello,

I have a Eumig 824 Sonomatic and noticed the following problem while trying to use it in super8mm mode. It seems that the front sprocket (when the super8mm sprocket wheel is installed) is catching on the front sprocket guard. If I hold the guard open (by pressing down on it) the front sprocket rotates properly but when I release the sprocket guard it rubs against the sprocket and causes the sprocket rotation to stop. When I remove the super8mm sprockets (front & rear) it plays standard 8mm films fine.

I believe I have installed the front sprocket properly as there are alignment holes which you can easily match up and I have been able to successfully to this for better than 30 years - just not today - and one could argue the problem may be that I'm 30 years older!

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if there is an adjustment which can be made to the threading assembly or if the front sprocket wheel may be damaged.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you,
-Henry-

Hello Henry. Check the Standard 8 fixed metal sprocket has not left its two small black locating pins as this will cause a problem when trying to use the Super 8 one.

Hello Lee - Thank you for the response but I'm not sure I follow. Could you provide a little more detail?
