I need your advise on before buying a new projector. i was wanted to buy a projector that can hold 1200 ft. reels and i found the Chinon Sound SS 1200 Stereo or Revue Lux 80 (the same machine).
However when I looked into the bible of super 8 (super8data.com). this they had to say on reel capacity :
reel capacity: 360 m (1)
1) using acetate film without sound track
Is that true? why is that? so i guess I shouldnt touch this one?

Most projector data has similar comments, but don't worry, 360 metres equate to 1181 feet, that's almost 1200 feet.
I have a Revue Lux 80 and it's a great projector, as you know, it has a small viewing screen which is useful for film checking. The mirror swings out of the way for normal projection.

You should bear in mind the 360 m of film (=1200 feet) need bigger reels after striping: the stripe increases the total thickness and 360 m end up occupying about 400 m's room. This was negligible in the case of pre-striped film stock which had a thinner base, but sadly this is no longer available.
So today you can rest assured you'll be able to host and screen 1200 feet of film with this machine as long as you'll be using unstriped film.
