Hi all,

I've just received a Sankyo Sound 501 without instructions and I've ran some films through it.

On a few occasions the threading failed on input and the film went off path into random spots in the projector.

I've read that it is possible to remove the film from the path once it is threaded. Does anyone know how I would do that?

In other cases the film simply got stuck in the projector for no reason, leading to the burning of a frame. Any idea how I could lube the projector?

Thanks.

Christian

Make sure the film has about 20 inches of white leader attached.
It is imperative that the film is trimmed with the supplied cutter. If it was not included, make sure the film end is trimmed either side (with scissors) with approximately 45% small cuts. The leader should slightly curl in the direction of the film take-up.
Run motor.
Press down the thread lever until it clicks.
Insert film in slot and wait until it exits the projector.

To remove partially run film:-

1) Remove mains plug from your outlet
2) Set control to STOP
3) Remove side cover
4) Move the rear film guide to the left and take out portion of film near the sound-head assembly
5) Open picture gate and remove film
6) Press down guide below top sprocket and take out the film from that area
7) Flip up rewind lever and take out the film from that area

After film removal, ensure everything opened is reset.

As regards lubrication, I regret that I cannot help. Sorry.

Thanks Maurice, I think I'm going to try to use silicone lubricant in the film path.
