Most of you will be aware of my efforts to re-manufacture a new Elmo 24fps drive last year and the first batch was a succsess.
this year i have strived to push,(as many people suggested)to find an engineer who could come up with a new Rubber wheel less the metalwork and today i think i have found just that person. I was tonight given 6 new rubber wheels of which some are being sent to other engineers (projector repair specialists) for testing, if they are succsessfull i shall be getting.
(HOPEFULLY) around 100-150 24fps rollers and maybe 50 18fps rollers. ITS ALL A MAYBE AT THE MOMENT.
The reason for this new item was that although us hardcore Elmo users were more than happy for the whole unit i was informed by others that if just the rubber could be made this would be easier for others to afford so hopefully ive now got this on track.At this early stage i can only give an estimate of the cost somewhere around £4-£6 each however this is an early stage but one i am hoping to see through.

Well done Tom, I haven't got an ST 1200 but would happily put my name down for a drive it will help you to get some made up. I could always pass it on at a later date to someone who needs one or maybe it would give me the perfect excyuse to by an ST for myself!

Hi tom i can use one my elmo had it i scraped it al off now it is noisy but still useable are these easy to replace?

I will take two sets of both 18 and 24. One set will go right into my Elmo ST1200 the other set as a spare. Hope they work!

Thanks for a superb response, we'll keep these babies goin for years, ive sent two of the test rubbers to two different repair chaps and will as always keep everyone up to date as news feed through. [Wink]

Thanks to all so far, ive had the first report back from the top man on the job and as i suspected i need to get the centre hole sorted so one more trip to the engineers and hopefully it should be fine, i will keep everyone posted as to the progress but i will persue this one to the end. [Wink]

Ive not tried to replace just the rubber yet but im sure one of the other chaps may be able to advise, the original is only glued and crimped. Once i get them made correct i shall get some more info, maybe in the meantime one of our experts on here could advise, Kev? [Wink]

Just a quick update to let you all know the engineers now have an old original roller drive to re-do the centre hole to ensure the new ones fit the original drive clutch and not just my re-manufactured units i did last year. [Wink]

Tom, I think your right they seem to be a very tight fit and glued or even just pressed on.
