Mike...thanks for your fascinating reply. I help out a friend, about 6 miles away, with the servicing of 16 mm projectors, mostly B & H. I was interested to see what the 8 mm service people did, compared to what I know the 16 mm service people do. It seems virtually the same. We adjust the claw, and lubricate as you say. This claw adjustment does cause machines to be quieter, as you say in your case. I've taken advantage of the 16 mm service training given, but now need to concentrate on 8 mm. How much is it to have your machines serviced, if you don't mind me asking. When I used to have to rely on the now deceased Sound & Screen Service for 16 mm repairs etc, it was often just less than £150 per time!! That was before I received my training on servicing!
