I just followed an Auction at Ebay and found this Yogi Bear "Home-Sweet-Jellystone" was sold for US$43.99 (exclude P&P)!

I am just wondering what had made this 200" cartoon film became so high value?

I know, Andreas once mentioned about this Yogi Bear on the other thread, but more because of the polyster base.

Any idea?

Note: I missed the Enter of Dragon, it was sold for above US$80. Dave Cragg, did you get it?

Who knows... but look at the bidding history. Typical runaway auction where two bidders engage in a war trying to trump each other while everybody else gets out with a "This is crazy, I don't want it that bad." [Big Grin]

Also note the user 'cinemaalberto1962' ... I've seen a lot of him, he's notorious for outbidding you almost immediately after you place your bid. Not by means of proxy bidding - nooo, I mean he goes, sees your bid and enters one of his own, just a bit higher than yours. (Guy must not be having a life...!) [Roll Eyes]

Long story short... it's always people who 1. want the item badly and 2. don't know when they're paying too much ... they drive prices up into the stratosphere. Ohwell, let 'em, is all I have to say... [Razz]

Hi Winbert,
yes I did get "Enter the dragon". Though it meant a late night and I'll probably fall asleep in work today! [Smile]

The trick is to wait until the last 2 minutes of the auction then throw in your maximum bid(You will only pay this if other bidders push the price up). This gives other bidders very little time to respond, and as I was determined to get this film I knew no-one could come near my $200 max bid.
There really is no point in bidding earlier as this gives more reaction time to other bidders.
I wouldn't leave it later than 2 minutes in case the server is running slowly.

Good news Dave,
I will be happy if you can post the review of this print for my future reference. I especially want to know if this copy still holds the color.

The seller itself, was not new for me. They were nice fellow. But Australia's temperature sometime is not friendly for film. My films are mostly reddish.

Note: Dave, good for you that I was not too cheeky to place US$198 in the last minute [Big Grin]

Although I've been known to bid as late as 2 seconds before the end of an auction, I think there are pros and cons - and if I'm selling something, I'm pleased to see the bidding start earlier.

Also, a complete lack of bids can lead to you spending nearly all the auction thinking that you're in the running for something that shoots out of your price range right out of the end. I'd prefer to find that out earlier, rather than have the dissapointment of doing so when I think I'm on the verge of winning.

It's people who bid up like this that turned me on to snipe bids. If you save your best bid until the end with the snipe then you'll either get it or not. BUT you won't have someone coming in and placing thirty bids to drive up an item 20 dollars.

Just my 2 cents, but it works for me.

Yes I won four items, i.e THE GODFATHER, The Ten Commandments, THE WARRIORS and FAME. Except Fame, they are all my favourites. FAME is more like a candy for me, giving something cheap for lesser shipping cost. Hopefully, my wife will enjoy "FAME" so at least there is something worth to me. [Wink]

Unfortunatelly they don't have the original cover.

Andreas, do you have one/two empty boxes of them?, I might buy from you. Next shipment from German to Fiji is in a couple months.

The other way, I will seek the member's kind assistance if you can scan the cover of those titles, so I can make my own. I will very much appreciate it if you are doing that. you can post directly to my email: winberthutahaean@yahoo.com

About the Yogy Bear, so it is confirm that there is no any special of it unless price went up driven by the bidders, isn't it?

Andreas, no idea who cinemaalberto162 is... but he's interfered with me before, too... and he is now on my list of mortal enemies. [Big Grin]

He's the only bidder I know who makes a sport out of narrowly outbidding others AFTER they bid, without using the proxy system. Madness [Eek!]

yogi bears when they turn up on the lists are usually no more than around £8-£12 max. We got an excellent YB for £5 a year or so ago from indipendent 8.

sorry I don´t have empty boxes of that titles. And "Fame" was never released in Germany, although "Fame" was a very succesful theatrical movie and TV-Series in Germany too.

When you received the films, let me know if "CSI Ulm" has right. [Wink]
