I just fired up an Elmo ST-600 that I hadn't been used in several years. Of course the two belts broke. Amazingly enough, Frys Electronics had replacement belts sitting on their racks!

What I now can't figure out is why the flywheel just sits there. Isn't the flywheel supposed to start spinning when the projector is in the forward or reverse position?

Does it make a difference if there is a reel of film on the spindle? Will I be doing any harm if I use the projector even though the flywheel is not spinning?

Well, to answer my own question, the projector does work, but it most definitely is running the film slower than the 18 and 24 FPS settings.

What makes the Flywheel turn? I thought the Flywheel turning was a mechanical link, but perhaps it's electronic?

Load it with a film and it will work!! The film drags the sound drum round and of course the flywheel [Embarrassed]
