Hi all

I am keeping an eye out for the Good the Bad & The Ugly on super 8 and this prompted me to ask everyone - what spaghetti westerns do you own on Super 8).

Do you have Django, one of the Dollars films, one of the Trinity films or some other obscure Spag film? It's own up time. You DO like to watch them don't you [Smile]

What spag films are available on Super 8? A full feature version of the Good the Bad & the Ugly would be great - but OH so many reels.

regards Peter

Please don't call them "spag films".... it sounds too much like STAG films [Roll Eyes]

On that note, no, can't say I've ever cared much for spaghetti westerns... Honest. [Eek!]

Kind of odd too how them being made in Italy came to be such a big deal. Let's face it: locations stand in for the real thing just the same way that actors stand in for the real people.

One of my favorite movies is set in Siberia, but was filmed in Canada. (I guess the Soviets weren't looking to have movie crews wandering around at the time...)

Nobody has ever called this film a "Molson Siberian" that I'm aware of!

I think "The Passion of The Christ" was filmed in Italy, does that make it a "Spaghetti Biblical"?

Andreas, I didn't find this out myself until recently - but apparently "stag" films are erotic/voyeuristic (pornographic?) films. Nothing that any of us needs. [Wink]

Yep!

Stag films. Used to be the mainstay of bachelor parties until video (and strippers) were invented. Sad to say it was many a gentleman's main interaction with small gauge films.

I have a Yelco projector that earned it's living in an adult book store in the pre-video era, and the former proprietor (and current coworker) gave it to me when he found out I liked Super-8 films. It's silent,so I don't really need it, but it's continuously variable speed so it would be good for video transfers.

Maybe one of these days I'll dunk the sucker in some antiseptic, replace the belts and get it running again!

(Are we off topic now??)

Andreas

Are the 3 x 400 full versions or slightly condensed?

Weren't the Dollars films shot in Spain in fact?

You are correct!

"A Fist Full of Dollars" was shot in Spain with studio work in Italy.

You gotta love Clint Eastwood (or at least fear him)! Short of Jack Nicholson has there ever been a more unnerving persona in the history of film? How'd you like to be this guy's kid?

"Dad? Can I borrow the car?"
"What's it worth to ya?...Punk!"

Must have been an interesting Mayor!

Hey Jean Marc,

How long is your "My Name is Nobody" print, being that you have all the different versions on super 8? Usually, a 4x400 version would be 65 to 70 minutes, but I'm curious how long yours is?

Osi, honnestly, I haven't timed it yet. I plan to rerecord the sound later this year (I'm working on Superman right now...) and will let you know.

Thanks

Any comments on the merits of the films themselves? Which is funniest or generally perceived to be funniest?

Regards Peter

Thanks Andreas

I have bought Trinity: In Trouble Again from a mysterious German Merchant. It will be fun recording the English Soundtrack to it!

Well, not always obviously; More a character singer though I can carry a tune in my own way - Yes, a bonafide actor which coincided with film collecting back in the 60's, where it all really began I guess
