Hey good people of the 8mm forum,
I'm new here (as a member) though I've had a link to you on my 8mm cover-art site for some time. I don't know if anyone else is doing this, but I've devoted a lot of time, money, and energy to restoring and reprinting 8mm movie-box cover art. Thus far I've only done horror and Sci-Fi (they're my passion). I've produced two volumes of collector's-cards and packaged them illustrated 200ft. Reel boxes. This has been a labor of love (certainly not of profit), but it's been a fun way to keep it fresh for me, and hopefully others.
I'm sure since you buy films where I buy boxes (Ebay) you've probably run into my auctions for the cards and film-prints.
On my website, apart from hawking my card set, I at least tried to give an overview of 8mm film collecting history, and packaging. I'm sure much of my facts would seem redundant to those as hardcore as yourselves, but I wanted to be a little more inclusive and inform those who are not as seasoned too. Take a looky if want, and feel free to offer me criticism (hopefully constructive). It's at monsterboxcards.com
Don't worry I'm not going to be a pain in the but who's just here to advertise, so far I've done mostly non-participatory reading/listening as you folks, really know your stuff, about every conceivable 8mm topic, gulp.
Anyway, Howdy: this looks like a great place to learn.

Timothy-
First, welcome to the forum!!!
Secondly, your web site is fantastic. You've included alot of interesting information. A very enjoyable and informative read. Plus, the illustrations are great.
This is a great idea (the cards), and I will be ordering from you very soon. I plan to get both volumes, but with Christmas right around the corner, I may have to stick with volume #1 for now .
Good luck to you in this venture.
P.S.- Have you advertised in any of the super-8 publications, like Film For The Collector (U.K.), or The Reel Image (U.S.A.)? I think this would prove to be a good investment, and will guarentee a volume 3!.
Thanks for your service.
Nick.

quote: As Nick stated, what a great web site! Very nice job on the history of package films.
Thanks, it's in need of an overhaul, I laid it out in Quark which is a pretty awful web-design tool (and I'm no expert). Eventually I want a gallery page that features many covers, some will be just as I got them warts-and-all because I have quite a few beyond what I've done restoration on.
I may branch into other genres too, I love cartoons, but I'm not sure it's strictly legal to reproduce the covers, as the characters themselves are under copyright. If anyone knows the rules which govern such things I'd love to know more. I just figure if I went to somewhere like Universal and asked if it was legal to reprint a Wood Woodpecker box, they're going to say no even if it is.
