Hey All,

I don't know if this is a problem with the projector, which is a Elmo st 800, or the film.
It isn't consistant in all prints, and is happening in prints that it didn't used to.
films are jumping a liitle, instead of being stationary. I have a few thoughts, but would like some others.

Thanks ,Brad

Hi Brad

Has the print in question been lubricated? It’s amazing what a little lube can do.

Also check that you have no bad splices, this can sometimes cause a print to wander.

Hi sunshine.
At the very worst it could be a worn cam for the claw perhaps. Fingers crossed for you my friend.

Bradford,

Here's another useful tip, sometimes the edges of the film become rough and dirty, and so do not flow through the projector to well, get a cotton bud and a little vaseline, and hold it against each side of the film either when projecting (which is easier) or on rewind arms (can be a little akward, though!), it only puts a little on, but its amazing how much dirt comes off, and your eliminating some friction along the way, as well as giving each edge an extra help to glide more easily through the gate. I've used this method a couple of times when normal lubrication hasn't helped too much, and it does work on a lot of films with the problem your having.
