Having just screened the 8mm feature of Star Wars last night I just wondered if anyone else was doing "It was 30 years and a long time ago" screenings at home?
Our super 8 show went off well last night, anyone else doing Star Wars shows in 2007 ?

A couple of years ago I acquired a 16mm scope print of star wars....and am hoping to have an outdoor screening this month if weather allows. I bought the new Super 8 print of You Only Live Twice this year and hope to show it soon since this is the 4oth year of that film.

Been there, done that!!

Except in my case, I just showed the digest prints, (400ft. scope part 2 included), just to give my audience a slice of "STAR WARS 1970'S Style", as these prints were right from that same time! I save my feature scope of SW for special SPECIAL occasions!

It really is hard to believe that it has been THAT long. I was 11 years old when it came out, and it truly was the film of my childhood!

I am doing a marathon show showing all 6 Star Wars films for a group of Star Wars fanatics living locally.

Starting at 9 in the morning then finishing late at night with suitable meal breaks during the day.

When the first 400ft digest came out i use to nip home from school in the dinner hour, grabb my brothers Eumig 810D and show it on my bedrooom wall, it was amazing to have this release before the feature film came out in our cinemas, we now have the full scope feature and its shown at least once a year. [Wink]

Thank you all for such greats news. Good to read many still enthuse about cine and are even showing it !

Gary: Your idea sounds superb and I hope the show goes very well.

Osi: Yes I agree. Time moves so quickly now but we have still had three film shows here this week. Keep it up.

Dave: You are a man after my own heart. I can remember watching all the Elm St videos with a group of serious film nuts way back. I think we closed down about 1am. Golden days.

Tom: Yes the feature is superb and in Scope Stereo the home cinema just about takes off. My audience sang along to the theme tune.

Hi Lee

The Star Wars marathon is on the August bank holiday weekend and is being shown in my home cinema in "The Shed" starting at 9am with Star Wars episode 1 (The Phantom Menace) and so on finishing with episode 6 (The Return Of The Jedi) I dont think it will be finished untill the early hours of sunday morning, I did ask the wife if she would like to come along but she refused, I cant think why ?.

This is scary, cant believe its been 30 years what a huge impact this film had, not just at the cinema but Super8 collecting as well, even with the "Star Wars" films that were to follow, nothing could compare with 1977 release. I am lucky to have a 16mm Scope print and we watch it every so often, my son has never forgotten "Star Wars" for a very different reason, years ago when he was about 11 yrs old I got him to change reels, at the time the 16mm projector was mounted quite high up, so he used an old bar stool to get to it, unfortunately the stool slipped away and he came crashing down and broke his wrist, [Eek!]

so we spent the rest of the night at the hospital getting his wrist reset and put into plaster, to top this he got me to do his paper round the next day until they could get some other kid to fill in, [Roll Eyes]

come to think of it I never got paid, [Frown]

a few days later we watched the final reel, [Smile]

and to this day he has never forgotten "Star Wars" and neither have I, must be due for another screening.

I can't believe that you have the 400ft digest as well as me,on ebay they are described as RARE!!!!! Ha Ha Mark

I was talking to a film collector at the Manchester Film Fair yesterday as he spotted I had purchased a Star Wars poster. He said that in the 80’s he hired a 16mm print from a library and on the way home prior to screening his car was broken into and the film stolen. He went on to explain that he had never wanted to see the film since due to the nasty experience and having to pay for the film.
I wonder who has the 16mm print today? Makes you think.
