Well, I was at an Estate auction on the weekend where a lifetime of camera collecting was auctioned off. Everything from box Brownies to Bolex Super 8 film cameras and tons of developing, lighting, editing etc.. equipment.
I managed to pick up a box of various 8mm supplies (splicers, tape, reels, bulbs, and various vintage paper in the form of booklets and manuals.
Interesting to me was three Eumig P8's in boxes. Naturally I looked closely at these, and unfortunatly, unlike the rest of collection these were not in good condition - missing various parts and rusting from poor storage. The sad thing was by the end of the day they were notsold even when they were put together in lot with a Bell and Howell Filmsound 16mm (also in poor shape) for a mere $2. I don't think there would have been any interest even if they were new. Which is the sad thing I could have gotten these pieces for nothing...alas....so sad.

Anyway, I thought some of the below would be of interest to forum members. This was in my box of stuff. I had no idea there was a sound attachment for the P8.
Enjoy!
Terry

Any of those cool wire reels in your lot? If so, are you willing to part with one? (Or also any of the newer Eumig reels with circular cutouts)

Funny you should mention those reels Bill because I did look for those. Unfortunatly two boxes were missing the reel and one was completley rusted. Maybe somebody got to the other two before me or they were just never there. Yeah, those are cool reels I wish I could have gotten one for you.
Terry

Oh yes, most of the other reels were those blue Carsons, a few metal reels in cans, and some Gepe reels in plastic cases.

Also of note: I found a bunch of projection bulbs. None fit my Super 8's. I think some may be for 16mm projectors and slide projectors:
CVS 110V 250W
CZA 120V 500W
CDS 115-120V 100W
DEJ 115V 750W
CLG/CLS 120V 300W
CGT/CGW 120V 200W

Multiples of some. Maybe someone needs one of these.

I used to have a Eumig P8, and later purchased the Phonomat tape synchronizer attachment. It bolted to the top of the P8, and looked just like part of the machine as it had the same crinkle grey/green finish. As I recall it worked very well indeed for music and synchronized commentary, but the rewind feature did not work very well, wearing out the main projector drive belt in quick order. Eumig soon integrated the attachment into the basic P8 projector design and a more succesful rewind design, selling it as the Eumig Imperial.
