I was outbid on Raiders Of The Lost Ark on Ebay today! The film finally went for $82/£48!!! I was very sad. I sold mine sometime ago and wish I hadn't. Anyone on here got one for sale or trade?

Sorry Kevin, I'm holding onto mine. If you get the chance, this digest was also recorded in stereo, (as some members can verify), and this was way back in the early 80's, which was pretty cool. I wonder if this was among the very first stereo releases?

And superb it is in stereo too as well as superb scope. This has to be one of the better prints that Marketing released.
Now do I want to sell my copy? Maybe at the right price

Kevin, I have no idea who did the recordings on these but it is excellent. I suspect it might have been Derann as I'm sure they were the only company in the world who have equipment for recording Stereo sound on super 8. Also It has one of the silver "Stereo" sticker on the box just like the ones Derann used to use. The other possibility is that they were done by someone on say a GS1200 or maybe a Yelco. PM Films did their own recording of stereo sound on some of their releases using the top of the range Yelcos (cant remember the model). I have their release of Watership Down in stereo which is superb. I often visited their shop and was shown the set-up they used for doing the recordings. I'm not sure but I think Watership Down was the first commercially available extract from a feature with stereo sound.
Price....now thats a difficult one. Try making me an offer. super8 at mrelmo dot co dot uk. Bear in mind that as you have seen Raiders is one of the rarer Marketings and in Stereo sound.......

Yes its a film I really like too. The 600ft digest is really well done but the stereo sound is another thing....its really superb and yes the clipped Bright Eyes sounds wonderful and erie sounding. The colour is still wonderful being on Fuji stock and printed by Bucks film labs.

I've found that many of my best U.K. edition digest prints were done by Buck Film labs over there in the U.K. (I'm assuming that).

Kevin, the 400ft wasn't released in stereo by Marketing Films.
In the 90's a stereo track "appreared" for the 400ft release. Love to know how the soundtrack is like when you get your copy of "Raiders", since the 400ft version was quite a complicated edit.
Marketing did a great job of mixing the mono 8mm soundtrack (especially notable during the truck chase sequence) where the editing is quite radical and yet the music score remains intact thanks to some nice mixing.
During the truck chase sequence, the Marketing 8mm mono original soundtrack includes some "grunts" from Indy as he swings on his whip from the back of the truck that just are not audible on ANY other "Raiders" sound mix...including the theatrical release........(anorak fact, that )

Yeah Rob, I know that, I had an original copy of Raider's. I got it from Derann when it came out in 1982. sold it however! This version I got from Kevin off of the Forum. The sound is great! And, much more important...The print still has good colour.
I really enjoyed it. My fave Super 8 at the moment.
