With only one day before the summer was officially over, we finally got to have an outdoor screening. In Virginia it was perfect weather for a show on Sunday night. We have a 17 foot scope screen we put up poolside. Up until this year we've always run 16mm films on it...for fear that super 8 would not be bright or sharp enough ...but this past year I finally got hold of a GS1200....had a two blade shutter put on it ..and had a f1.0 lens for it. I was asked this year to run The Fog..the Derann stereo feature. The results were amazing. The picture was nice a bright, and sharp. Folks had no idea they were watching Super 8. I tacked on three stereo scope trailers , Quantum of Solace, Revenge of the Sith and the latest Indiana Jones . I was amazed at how great the picture looked. I had been using in past years... a 16mm marc 300 machine for these outdoor shows...but the super 8 machine did a splendid job...and the stereo effect across the 17 foot field was remarkable. This opens up a ton more possibilities for outdoor shows next year..or maybe even yet this year. Can't wait to see how Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade looks on this big screen.

Excellent, Gary!

We just had a brick patio put out back. I keep walking around it saying (mostly to myself...)"If I put the projectors on a table here, I could put the screen over there..."

Did you have any problems with acoustics? I would imagine without walls and a ceiling to reflect and contain the sound the volume needed to be a little higher than normal.

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

No problems with sound at all. The wireless speakers were placed in front of the vinyl screen...and did not have to be very loud at all. the sound travelled across the pool ...and sound over water carries well also. The viewers sit beside the pool, with the house directly behind..so the sound is contained pretty much in the area.
