Evening all!

I'd love to pick your brains please. I've a few Gerry Anderson super (and a couple standard) 8's. 50ft Fireball XL5 / Joe 90 / Thunderbirds, some 200ft Thunderbirds and a few of the 400ft UFO's.

Is there a list anywhere of what Gerry Anderson films were released? I've love more Fireball XL5, I'm sure I read somewhere there was no Captain Scarlet released.

Ta!

Paul.

Hi Paul,

I have three 50ft col std 8 Thunderbirds and one 200ft Fireball XL5 (std 8 b&w). To my knowledge you are correct about no Captain Scarlet being released, which I would have loved (along with some Space 1999).

I don't know who released it, but I do know that at least one full "UFO" episode was released as a 3X400ft.

Bill, I too love UFO. There was something about a secret Earth defence operation underneath a functioning film studio that really captured my imagination as a kid. I understand there's a Hollywood re-imagining in the works, which I'm dreading, though it can't be any worse than the live action Thunderbirds film a few years back. Serves them right for not involving Mr Anderson in the project.

Regarding UFO, I'm sure that only 'Identified' and 'Exposed' were released as 3 x 400' versions as well as 400' versions. In addition to the ones mentioned, 'Timelash' was another 400' version but I'm sure there were 6 in all, so there's one more. Does anyone have or remember this?

I have Walton 400' bw/sound Std 8 versions of 'Stingray' and 'Fireball XL5' episodes, which were probably released on Super 8 as well. I'll try and find them and provide titles before long. Phil Sheard of Classic Home Cinema once told me there's a very rare 200' col/sound 'Thunderbirds' release, that apparently still has great colour, if you can find it!

I'm quite jealous of you chaps - I love UFO! I always keep an eye whats on ebay but sometimes the price really does creep quite high.

I have a spare copy of 'Exposed' which I keep meaning to put up there.

Paul, if you don't have the UFO 400' 'Survival', I have a mint copy that I'm willing to sell for a modest price. However, it doesn't have the original box. I also have a mint 'Timelash' in the original box, which I'll think about selling, if anyone is interested.

Jean Marc...you list 'Psychobombs' and 'Cat With Ten Lives' as being available as 3 X 400's. Is that so? If it is that's good to hear!

I thought 'Identified' and 'Exposed' were the only releases in 3 x 400'.

Bill - I'm sure it was only 'Identified' and 'Exposed' that were released by Techno as a 3 x 400' versions with English sound, but Jean-Marc is referring to German UFA releases.

Role Call of my UFO film collection;

Identified - 3x120m Technofilm full episode (however, cut made by Technofilm of Gay Ellis getting dressed - maybe a bit too racey at the time?)includes original carded slipcase by TF to hold all the cases together.
Exposed - 1x120m Technofilm cut down
Identified - 1x120m Technofilm cutdown
Survival - 1x120m Technofilm cutdown
Cat With Ten Lives - 1x120m Technofilm cutdown
Timelash - 1x120m Technofilm cutdown
Psychobombs - 1x120m Technofilm cutdown
Psychobombs - 3x120m UFA full episode German dub
Cat with Ten Lives - 3x120 UFA full episode German dub
All are there original cases

I also have 1 episode on 16mm - "Identified"

Adam, bravo!
Episodes from other TV series released by TF, like The Persuaders, were also slightly trimmed down before being given the 3x400ft treatment.

I'd read about that sequence somewhere and I wasn't very happy to discover that it wasn't in my 3 x 400' version! I still haven't seen it but presumably there there wasn't any nudity in an Anderson episode!

It's a real shame about that missing Gay Ellis strip. There was no nudity, just a little sequence of jump cuts of our fav Moonbase girl removing her sleeves and pants legs of one of Sylvia's fab 1980s future wear costumes. However, the sequence with Michael Caine's wife (forget her name) standing in a silver bikini was left in - ????

I may have to review my other full length ITC episodes I have in my collection in case they were cut too. I don't think they were, but I have a few 3x110m episodes of The Baron, Strange Report, The Persuaders and The Protectors (2x110m). The best thing about some of these releases was that TF used original ad bumpers as reel breaks.
