Hi all - I posted this on the 16mm page so as to stay within subject, but some of you 8mm collectors might also be able to answer (David Kilderry perhaps? - btw the Sunset drive in at Marybyrnong was an old fave)
Whatever happened to Bob Johnstone (ABJS) and his library of 16mm films. Bob had a huge library of 16mm films that he showed publicly - any thing from Chaplin and Keaton to Star Trek and the Outer Limits - first in the 70's at "The Ritz" in North Melbourne (Australia) then in the 80's and 90's at the "Encore" in Surry Hills Sydney. I grew up on his stuff - magic.

Hi Guy, and welcome to the forum.
I did know Bob and bought some 16mm prints from him about 20 years ago. I should have bought more as the titles he had nobody else did e.g. low fade 16mm Monkees TV episodes, Warner cartoons etc
There was a large auction of his collection in Sydney about 6-8 years ago and I believe he may have passed away. I am not certain of this, so my apologies if this is not the case.
I have a few friends who I can ask for you Guy, so I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks David - I look forward to more info. The last I heard of him he'd given up exhibiting and was running a stock footage company - but that goes way back to the (mid?) 90's.

Yes he did run a stock footage company, it was around that time I last had contact with him. A friend of mine confirms he passed away just a few months before his collection was auctioned.
I remember going through the items on line, but can't recall now if I bid on any or not.
