I suppose that the most common and popular Super 8 projector in Germany is the Bauer, a local product by the Bauer division of Robert Bosch, although a lot of them were made in Italy at the ex Silma plant then owned by Bauer. My observation is based on German eBay where a potential purchaser can choose from a wide range of Bauers. I'm not saying that Elmos were not popular because they also turn up on German eBay but not in such numbers. Were Bauer projectors popular in the USA? Or were they just also-rans in the Super 8 market?

Bauer was always a small niche player in the U.S. Super 8 market. Respected and high priced. They did enjoy some success in the pro 16mm market with their double band sync sound 16mm projectors. I have alot of respect for Bauer quality and the gentle way they handle film.

I always wanted a BAUER back in the early eighties, but could never afford one. I finally got a BAUER T-610 about six years ago, and its the best projector I've ever had!
Honestly, I feel like I'm watching 16mm when I run a film on this. The sharp, steady image is unparalleled in my opinion.
