I was shocked to read in the new Derann newsletter that the Blackpool Dinner bookings, despite initially coming in at a fast rate, are giving cause for concern. Is nothing sacred! The number last year was the highest for several years so I hope this is a temporary 'blip'. Are there any regulars here who are slower than usual in getting their bookings in? I hope everyone will get behind this fantastic event as the last thing we need are worries regarding the future of Blackpool.
As someone who has attended every convention there since 1984, I may not be completely objective, but if you need any encouragement: a collector I know from the Midlands attended his first last year, had a great time at the dinner and won first prize in the raffle!

Yes, I have already booked this year, for the first time ever. I've always attended the convention, but never the dinner, so I for one really hope it'll go ahead this year!

Stap me vitals, McC - I thought you were the geezer I scrounged a brandy off last year! Must have been some poor chap who just happened to be at the hotel!! EVERYBODY - get your bookings in, and I promise I'll mention you at the dinner (for 6d extra I'll leave your name out!!) Cheers, David E

David - if we can boost the dinner attendance here, perhaps you could announce that it's 'supported by' the 8mm Forum - and the forum will then gain publicity in return.
Anyone attending this staggeringly entertaining event for the first time is welcome to ask if there's any room on my table (or that of any other forum members who say the same thing), to help you feel at home.
The last BFCC had an amazing turnout of overseas collectors, so maybe those unable to attend an October BFCC this year should opt for a November weekend in sunny Blackpool instead!

Is it true, David, that you actually cook the food for The Derann Dinner yourself? I have heard that you do a good job!
