I was on the phone talking with someone who is really familiar with super 8mm. When I mentioned Derann (with my own pronunciation), he didn't get it at all thinking I menitoned another company. But eventually our discussion came to the same direction and I found that he also mentioned this company.

You are right Trevor although since the 80’s if I ever mention Derann in conversation with friends I always call them Duran Duran after the popular pop group for fun.

When I used to talk to Derek (whom I miss terribly) on the phone, the 'De' was more of a dah then a duh sound - DAH-ran - but it wasnt a long 'ah', very short. Its kind of like when someone from Chicago says " DaBears " ( translation: The Bears )
