In these days with everyone having to tighten their belts as far as finance goes perhaps an amalgamation of the two conventions may be something to ponder?
One big bash over a weekend once a year. What do other members think?

Do you mean the London and Blackpool conventions? If so, I feel that such a step would have to be very much a final last resort. These events are significantly different, with different strengths and attributes. Also they are located in completely different parts of the UK so I'm not sure that one not taking place would greatly increase attendance at the other, as the most keen enthusiasts already go to both so the question is would many others be willing to make a much longer journey in order to still attend a reltively large event.
