I won an Elmo reel metal, but the seller says it is 16" in diameter. I was so shocked because my GS1200 can only take max. 1200 feet (which I translate this into 12"...is that right?)
Now I got a photo of the reels:
He put a ruler (max 12" length) as the measurement.
I made my on analyze by "placing" the ruler to the bigger size reel and it was around 14" instead of 16".
So my questions:
1. Is the bigger reel an Elmo brand? 2. What are the diameter of Elmo metal reels available you know? 3. Will that bigger reel fit to my GS1200 machine? 4. What do you think the brand of smaller reels (Taylor, Gepe, Bonum?)

Wow, that's really quite surprising. You're right -- a typical 1200' foot reel is 12.25 inches across, and your photo shows just that at the bottom reel. Elmos, Goldbergs, they're within a tenth or two of each other.
Anything larger than that won't fit an unmodified GS.
But that top reel! If it's 14 across, then it's 1600', and if it's actually 16" across, then it would be closer to nearly 3000'. Don't know what you've just won, but I hope you'll post a better picture before you mount it on your wall as a decoration!
