I am new to this game. I have picked up a box of slides, 8mm and super 8mm films that are my parents. Father inlaw had an old 8mm so was able to view the 8mm but did not have super8mm projector to see the rest. I picked up a local b&h 10m that looked good and was told it was working. Viewed first movie with no issues....then it started slowing/sticking. Have pulled the cover...spring band has old grease that is very sticky. Has good tension from what I can tell.
It is no longer moving at this point. Lower rubber belt is fine.....all motors working fine....when I take off the top belt....the top left hand pulley is working fine....when I put the belt on...looks like the inside part of the pully is rotating but the outside part of the pulley does not...at this point no film movement.....any help would be appreciated. I like to tinker....so working on something will not be a problem.
I can upload a picture if that will help.
Thanks,
Scott

the rubber belts turn to goo after a number of years if it is not to bad try and get the old stuff off and get a new belt there is a guy on ebay that sells projector belts. if its a spring belt you might have to take it off and clean it real good with a degreaser. a picture may help?

Rubber belt is fine. I have cleaned the spring belt on top (it was sticky). When I put it back on....the inner part of this top left pulley is moving and the outside is not. I took it apart and there are two parts to the pulley. The nubs are still there on the outside part to hook the two parts up....wondering now if the spring in the back is the problem....thanks for the info....(at least I can buy both belts if I end of needing them)

Here is a picture of the part....top left

hi Scott, and welcome to the Forum! Looks like you're still missing a rewind/reverse belt there....could you show a bigger pic of the projector? [Smile]

Joe if you are talking about the spring type belt that was on the top linking the two pulleys...in this picture I did take it off. If I put it back together and turn on the projector....the pulley turns but the spring belt does not move. I can see the inside of this pulley is moving with the gears...but the outside piece is standing still...??? I will be glad to post a picture if this did not satisfy your question. I am grateful for any suggestions....I am usually a pretty good fixit guy...but this one is throwing me for a loop. thanks! Scott
