Hi
This is my first posting and I would like to present myself for now.
My name is Joerg and I'm from Germany.Since I can think I'm a fan of cinema projection and technology in general.
2 weeks ago I found an old Super 8 projector at my grandmothers home.
A Revue 310, manufactured by the Italian company Silma ,for the German Quelle-Revue Company at the End of the 60s.
I have completely disassembled it and I've also installed new belts.(friction and Motor)
Now it runs like brandnew.
But unfortunately I've only found two rolls of film, nothing more. But yesterday I was very lucky...
In a forum of my town I was offered a full Super 8
Equipment pick up, which should be disposed of properly.Everything was packed in a large cardboard box and taped,so that I did not know what's inside.
Home then the surprise:
A Revue lux 50a,almost new condition,a Revue Lux 1000,splicer,a viewer of Revue and two cameras. The projectors are manufactured by Eumig for Quelle-Revue Germany.
Some films were also in the package.from Ufa "The Empire Strikes Back" 2 parts a 120 meters,"Die schönen Wilden"2 parts a 120 meters and some others.

All in all a winner for me!.. [Smile]

Now I've found a nice new hobby.

Many greetings from Germany
joerg

..and sorry for my bad english,i try to do my best.. [Smile]

These are the projectors from my surprise:

Hi Joerg,

Welcome to the forum. There several members from Germany here. So don;t worry you are not alone.

You will find that this hobby is wonderful.

You are so lucky to find "Empire Strikes Back" for free. Next you need to find the previous one (i.e Sgtar Wars IV (a new Hope). This title also in 2 parts. In Germany you will find this one released by Marketing Films (Blue box). In other countries, it was printed by Ken Films.

So, happy hunting!

Thanks for the nice greeting.
Yes, I'm sure that it's a nice hobby.Ahh, yes, the marketing version of StarWars.
I'm not sure, but the first part is 110 meters and the second part is only 60, right?
I would have liked the full version of it, but I do not have the money, unfortunately.

Thursday I get a few more movies.
Alien from Ufa/Ken,110 meters, and the Towering Inferno, three parts each 120 meters.

Part one of "The Empire .." is red as hell, but part 2 looks like new.
were two different film types used by ufa?

Greetings!!
Joerg

Yes you are right. So you already knew more about this hobby.

However, in the USA and UK, the two Star Wars IV were released on 400 feet each (2 * 120m). So I don't know if we can join the two marketing Films + Ken Films to make it even much longer version, However, our member from France, Jean Marc has done it an had posted here about it. May be he can chime in.

It is more about luck. Two type of film stocks were used at the same time, i,e Eastman/Kodak SP and LPP/AGFA. Eastman/Kodak SP will have red color now. But the LPP/AGFA will still be good until today. So if you get a film on LPP or AGFA you are lucky because the same title may also be on Eastman/Kodak SP which have been red now. You can use a magnifier and check the writing between the sprockets to see what film stock on the two Empire.
