Sometime between 1980 and 1982, the price of silver shot up: silver was used in the manufacture of B&W film. One of the UK amateur film making mags announced that Kodak was going to cease making B&W film, and subsequently all monochrome films would be printed onto colour stock, and of course we would have to pay colour prices. I remember the price of a B&W feature went from around £60 to £100, Colour features were around £350 and this announcement caused me to end my collecting. Does anyone else remember this announcement, and what happened; as B&W filmstock is still available.
