I am new to this forum and I really want to thank all of you that have contributed so much useful information to this site. Everyone seems to have the same passion and willingness to help.
I have read many different posts on this site in regards to cleaning film but not about the environment. More specifically if you should clean the films in a controlled environment. Humidity, static free ect. Most likely i am over thinking this as i dont have a lab or access to one but was curious if there was an ideal setting. I love the posts on cleaning film and will be putting some of those ideas to work soon.

Thanks!
Michael

Hi Michael.Unless you're running a lab or a restoration business. You don't need to go nuts.

Though cool and dry environments are certainly an important factor when handling film and storing it.

I have a humid free basement that works well for me. I haven't had any issues with the 20 years I've been storing them.

As far as cleaning environment goes, just make sure its a relatively dust free room. You should be OK!

A room that gets dusted and vacuumed regularly if you want to be on the safe side.

Many restoration companies have "clean rooms" that are static free and the workers need to wear coverings but they are doing that so their client's print product is flawless. That is a much higher form of clean!!
