This may be a dumb question but I'm a total noob to all of this. I'm looking for a cool vintage projector that can play 8mm and 16mm films. I don't know if such a thing exists. I own a antique mall and get some films in every once in awhile. I'd like to watch them but it's kind of a pain to have two different projectors.

I know what you mean. I decided to sell off my 16mm collection and just stick to Super 8.
I have a work bench that is Standard 8 and 16mm. It's possible there is a standard 8 and 16 projector out there because the sprockets are the same size.
I would be surprised if there was a Super 8 and 16 projector though.

There most certainly is! You need to hunt for a HEURTIER Tri-Gauge which will project 8mm, 9.5mm and 16mm magnetic and optical sound films and I’m pleased to announce I used to have that very machine up till just a few years ago. The down side to it was it was really heavy, took up a great deal of space and although beautifully made it did not like vintage film prints. The Dutch film group have modified the machine they have to Xenon lighting and it will easily fill a modest cinema screen as we witnessed at a Dutch film festival a few years ago. They are 100% solid machines, just lifting it will confirm this and really a set-up you would want to leave in situ.

The Heurtier Tri-Gauge is such a magnificent looking machine that Jürgen Lossau put it on the cover of his indispensable Movie Projectors book.
This excellent guide is available from the Atoll Medien site.

Hmm as often is the case with me I wonder if I want a item that is few and far between (or prohibitively expensive). I've tried to find both of the projectors mentioned above but haven't had any luck. Thank you guys for helping.
