I have an old kodak brownie 500 8mm projector which was my grandfathers, I would like to make sure it is protected from any further damage or rust if it needs oiling. The simple manual that came with says nothing about oiling the projector but inside I do see that there is a bit of rust. The projector itself works perfectly though it is noisy (but not in a broken machine type noisy). I have a silicone free mineral based oil lubricant that is apparently meant just for this purpose, like lubricating sewing machines and hair clippers and preventing rust, machinery in general etc.
If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it, I do not want to cause damage. I realize that you must not over oil a projector either. [ August 13, 2013, 02:55 AM: Message edited by: Matthew Smith ]
