Ok now im confused i realised i had a 200ft reel with 2 scope trailers Austin powers and Zorro so decided to run that through instead of the one i had been using and for some reason it was fine.It was as near to perfect as could be no cut corners or anything. Is it possible that the other reel was the issue and not the lense. Granted i took Maurices great advice to swap the lense holder round but didnt work at first but with the other reel it is fine :/

William, the most possibly reason, the first one with vignetting is a scope with full frame and the later is those scope films with black bar on top and bottom (to make ratio 2.35:1 with 2:1 lens?).
If that is correct, you will see without the scope lens there will be black bar on the right and left screen for the later print.
Having this the vignetting is still in place actually but has been absorbed by the black bars. Does it make a sense to you?

It should project with tall people like you used to get on the TV before widescreen.
If you can still see the problem its the film.
The lens I have for super 8 is the Kowa 8Z. On my original ST1200 it was mounted on a stand that the front feet stood on, the lens mounted in a 'lollipop' section. When I sold the ST and got GS I bought the bracket that fixed on the front using the screw holes I think it came from 'Widescreen Centre' or 'Cresta'.
The throw would be about 18' and with the standard ELMO lens I have never had any problems. The screen is 72"
