Does anyone remember this publication? In the 70s I was a kid/pre teen and used to love getting this magazine. They used to do reviews of digest prints and talk about equipment and, of course, film making. Wondering how long the publication lasted from and until? Does anyone have a source for back issues?

David, I think you mean Super8Filmaker magazine. I still have a stack of mine from back then; including the one seen in the movie Super 8. I actually scanned some of the old projector reviews for a few members here a while ago. I always looked forward to each new issue

Making Better Movies was started in March 1985 by the former Movie Maker editors Tony Rose and Alan Cleave and carried on until late 1989 when it was renamed Video Maker or something similar. Movie Maker's owner seems to have forced Tony Rose and Alan Cleave out in late 1983. It then suffered a series of changes of editors and formats but stopped in August or September 1985 when it was taken over by the newer Making Better Movies.

I always thought that the British Movie Maker was a far superior magazine than Super 8 Filmaker

I think they all had the good points and bad bits. The only two UK magazines I used to have were Movie Maker & Film Making both monthly.
Unfortunately they had that dreaded message that you used to get in your favourite comics "Great news chums next month we're merging your favourites in to one. and all the bits you like are going."
I would like to see a copy of Super 8 Sound Filmaker.
