Hello all I have a chinon SS1200 machine and have had it for some time now,I have not used the machine for about 18 months and got it out to try it all works well apart from no sound when I turn up the volume I can hear the hum from the speakers but no sound from the film.
I have removed the film pressure plate and cleaned the heads but its still the same also it I tap the head unit with the volume up you can hear the taping noise.
Has anyone got any idea what might be the problem.

Sounds like another classic oxidized switch situation!

-Work all the switches a bunch of times.
-Plug and unplug any headphone, aux and external switch jacks several times as well.

EDIT: Sound switches only, and do it with the power unplugged.

Not at all guaranteed to work, but it doesn't cost anything to try.
