I have a Bolex M8 8mm, i would like to adapt to a 15v 150w halogen lamp. I have read on the forum that this has been done but I do not feel able to. Looking someone in Europe who can do the job.

Regards.

Hi Jluis, I have done this change to one of my M8's. The bulb is 15v and 150Watts. It was necessary to use an external transformer for this job because the transformer was too big to fit inside the projector. Although the light output is good and even, a better arrangement is to use a 12 volt 100 watt lamp because the transformer can be housed inside the unit and the results are as good as the 150watt lamp. Also the 100 watt lamp runs cooler. I have used the old big resistors at the top of the M8 to provide a Dim/Bright switch arrangement. Now if you want details, I can send them to you with some photos and instructions on how to change the lights but I cannot offer to do the job for you.

Hi Jluis,
You have two options with a 12V 100W lamp. You can use the dichroic mirror type known as A1/231 or EFP or the halogen A1/215 or FCR which needs the existing projector rear reflector and condensing lens. The FCR is probably easier to install but will have a slightly lower output.

Hi John,

I ask if you please if I could send a picture of the installation of the halogen lamp in your projector Bolex M8.

Thanks!
