Here's the last one of the lot, at least for this time. Someone was asking for a video from VERA CRUZ, so I thought I'd do it, as I don't go back to work until tomorrow.
I decided to make this a fun experiment ...
1. I plugged the CHINON 9500 mag/opt into the PC and recorded the optical track right off of the film, eliminating projector noise entire. I decided not do any noise reduction, so there is a lot of hiss.
2. The image was another whole thing altogether. If a film has a reddish hue to it, even a little bit, this little FLIP digital camera brings the reds out X10!! I had to do a lot of color correction on the video footage just to get it close to the actual color of the film itself. For instance, the lady with the yellow dress is bright yellow and very saturated. In order to get the other colors to look pretty good, her dress had been lessened to a weak yellow. Overall, it looks OK. It wasn't easy.
3. I should also add that when projecting this, I put up a non reflective white surface, instead of what I used on the other super 8 "shoots". This cut down some of the glare that was evident on the earlier ones. I actually used an old Derann 600ft plain white box! Derann comes to the rescue yet again!

The color on the actual print is a little better. The fellow playing the harmonica is none other than a very young Charles Bronson, and if you look quickly, you'll see a young, slim jack Elam.
