I remember reading in the forum about something like this, that was used for repairs etc. Does anyone know what it was called?

There is a thermo setting plastic, that you heat up in hot water, and mould to shape and then it sets hard, can be reused time and again. There is also a putty, I think is called boiler makers repair putty, that is grey in colour and contains a hardener that you mix together with your fingers. This can be machined like metal when it has cured, very good for all things really, and will stick to almost anything, most hardware stores sell this now.
