HI all. I have a question regarding a Bolex P1 8mm camera. When it is running, no film in the gate, should the view in the view finder be steady, or flicking. At the moment it is steady, so is this correct, and when operating the aperture control, should the brightness in the view finder vary. Many thanks.

John.

I regret I can't answer your question as I do not know the P.1. However, you may find the details of interest in my attachment from the Bolex Collector.

Maurice. Many thanks indeed for the info on these Bolex cameras. I read the details of the 3 cameras in the group, but did not have the info I was looking for. It did make good reading though.
Thanks again
John

I assume that you do not have a manual for the P.1. Oldtimer Cameras can supply a few relevant manuals.
Here is the link.

My recollection is that there is no flicker in the viewfinder when running.

the finder does not flicker, and you don't see the iris fade through the viewfinder.

Maurice. Thanks for the link, have put an order in for 2 books on the P1 camera.

Thomas and David. Many thanks to you both. From what you have both said, it means that no flicker, or aperture showing in finder my camera appears to be ok. I have only 2 films to use, the sun is shining, my 8 year old grand daughter is visiting, so will use the P1. Many thanks all. John in Gretna
