Half that price would be reasonable. About ebay bidding- There may be one bidder who bids enormously high, but he won't have to pay that if no one else's bid came close. Not the case here, as at least two bidders were competing very closely in that high range.

Indeed Daniel, which only highlights all of the benefits I spoke of moments ago surrounding obtaining a person's very best price by taking the item to the general public en masse.

This film, but for two later bidders, may well have only fetched £100 otherwise.

Now comes the inevitable debate! [Big Grin]

but that's just it Ricky, it's anyone else's business for anyone who is interested in such items and what they can be obtained for.

Hence the reason we're all here and hence the reason we learn what to charge for items nowadays when we choose to sell them, or what to offer someone, when we want to buy them. [Wink]

As I've said before: the market for used film is nothing at all like the market for crude oil or soy beans: supply is unpredictable and so is demand. (Then you throw in the psychology of hobbyists: which makes grown men sacrifice their marriages for model aircraft or baseball cards!)

You take the sellers you have at the moment, and the buyers at the moment (Subtract out the guy who really, really wanted it, yet bought it last week.), throw in a roulette wheel to make sense of it all, and there's your "market".

It is solely because the seller listed the item on the right moment and right place. And there 2 bidders really wanted it. That is it! Nothing to do with the current market price.

I bet, if you guys here now put the same title on Ebay, you would not get that high.

Some bidders just involved themselves in a bid wars without really desire to get the item.

I have the very experience when I listed a shark's movie theme (3 x 400') "Blue Water, White Death. Follow this story (scroll down for my post in the middle). I was so surprised it was sold for $350 ...after a bid wars.

I sent the movie, and knowing the final price was so high of my expectation I was so encouraged to find another copy. One member had one, and using the Ebay's second chance, I contacted the second highest bidder to offer the very same title. Normally, Ebay will give the price a $0.50 - $1 cheaper from the final price

The result....NO ANSWER! He is not (longer) interested.

The lesson is that the second bidder was only involved in the bid wars, and finally realized he actually did not need that.

So, don't get surprised with this Casablanca's price. The seller was just lucky like me. [Wink]
