Ive got two optical Super 8 films. Playing them on my Yashica P810, one the sound syncs perfectly, and the other the sound is about 1-2 seconds ahead of the screen image. I've read a little bit about sound standard offsets for projection but it seems odd that one film is OK and the other is so far off.

Any help on this? Does the Yashica offer some form of compensation to sync it? Unfortunately the one out of sync is Steamboat Willie!

That's a rarity for an optical soundtrack. Sadly, being that the other optical sound film is in sync, it's a defect with that specific print, and since you can't rerecord an optical soundtrack, you're kind of stuck.

I hope that optical sound film is enjoyable, none the less. What is it, if I may perchance ask?

It's Steamboat Willie. It just doesn't make sense to me that an optical track could be synced wrong and defective.

Here's the only thing I can find so far on offset sound:

This can happen on optical prints if the lower loop differs from its normal shape and size.

If it looks exactly the same as when you project your good print, just dismiss this as a possibility, but on the machines I've used that can replay optical prints, very occasionally, I have witnessed a similar occurrence.

I have no experience sadly with your Yashica model so I have no idea if this is even remotely possible on this particular machine though.
