I picked up a cosmetically mint FUJICASCOPE projector for 5 bucks. Problems: 1. lamp doesn't project (probably needs replacing or connectors need cleaning. 2. Film feeds okay, but the left reel doesn't turn, while the right one is okay feeding film into the projector. I checked inside, and the belts seem okay, but the smaller belt doesn't seem able to turn the white section. Suggestions very much appreciated.

Paul, is the white section and the take-up assembly seized up do you think? Thus causing the belt to slip on it's drive?

With no power connected can you turn the white nylon drive shaft manually by hand?

Perhaps it needs loosening up and a de-grease / re-grease.

Worth trying before replacing the belt.

Hi Rob,

No, I can't spin it by hand. It's one of those "don't force it" situations; it seems to have a clutch. Someone on another thread had suggested that it might be an electrical issue – perhaps it's controlled by a solenoid which is faulty.

That said, I'm now trying to figure out what a solenoid is for and how to go about troubleshooting it.
