I recently bought a couple of cheap eumig projectors one was a 502D which came with this extra lens as well as the standard one.It produces a huge picture which is too big for my wall at my normal projection distance.I can't seem to find any info on it, is it any good?.Also could it be made to fit another projector with more light output as the 502 only has a 50w lamp and the picture is not very bright.If you unscrew the front of the lens the whole middle comes out so it might possibly fit into another sleeve if they are avalable.

It is marked as an f1.3, with a focal length of 10mm, so it's not surprising that you get a large picture.

If your Eumig using 50w 12v with bowl type (I believe the generic name for this shape is MR16) then 100w 12v will also fit to this Eumig.

But you must consider if the transformer can handle this much power or not?

Several projectors using lower bulbs, for some reasons. But they are using the same transformers with the higher ones. In this case we can just replace the bulb with the higher ones.

However, if that is not the case, you must replace first the transformer and this is not an easy job, considering the size. Otherwise using external transformer

Now, what you need to do is to open the back cover and see what type of transformer is there. Find if this same transformer is used for other higher projectors.

The code bulb name for 100w 12v is EFP. I think your 50w 12w is coded FNV.

This is one of those times that it would be nice if somebody that had both machines could line them up and compare them.

It could be that the 50W machine has a smaller transformer, finer gauge wiring and wimpier cooling.

It could also be that the marketing people stuck a 50W lamp in some machines and let the customers think "For just a little more money I can have TWICE the lamp!", meanwhile their real difference in costs is almost nothing!

(Would you really want to be the only kid on the block with the "dim machine"?)

I have that lens too, very good for films masked to widescreen with black top & bottom of the picture on a scope ratio screen.

The eumig 502 uses the tall 8v 50w lamps so cannot be converted.Anyway i tried this lens in my eumig S910 which has a 100w lamp and it fits,you just need to manually pull the lens in & out to focus.What i want to know is that when the front ring is removed on the lens it slides out in one piece as in the photo below.Are different adaptors avalable so it would fit other makes of projectors ie elmo ?.

Oh...that type of bulb is not cheap!

The street name for that type is Spaceman or Robot.

The ANSI code is CXL/CXR or in UK is A17.

You cannot modify it to 100w in a simple way.

I wonder if there is any way to convert to this cheaper 8v 50w halogen they also offer http://www.lamps-on-line.com/projector-bulb-64607-efm-8v-50w-gz6-35.html?___store=default&nosto=nosto-page-product1.

I suspect from what was published by Tony Shapps a long time ago about up-rating the lighting in these to 12v 100w that there would not be room for a lamp of this diameter in this series of projectors.
