Hello all.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but was a print ever struck of the original Edison Frankenstein for the 8mm of Super 8 format? (Or even 16?) I was reading up on the film and it appears that people didn't even know this film existed until the 1970s!

I've never heard of it being on super 8 or standard 8mm. You might want to ask the collectors of 9.5MM if it was ever released in that format.

As you'd expect, there are several postings of this film on YouTube. This a link to a HD version with music if you want to see what it was like. Silent films were rarely shown without music provided by a pianist, a band, an orchestra or a cinema organist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-fM9meqfQ4

From what I've read, the film was in the possession of a man with the last name of Detlaf. He was described as being a rather strange man who for years tantalized film scholars and collectors by releasing clips of the film and not the entire movie. I believe that it was after Detlafs demise his estate allowed a video company(the name escapes me) to release the film in it's entirety. If BlackHawk ever did release the film on Super 8, it was probably a clip from the film, not the entire movie .
