I bought a reel entitled "fantasia' and while it wasn't in the original box, I assumed it would be the "Sorcerors Apprentice' Disney short and perhaps, other trailers ...
Boy, was I right!
It had not one, but THREE trailers for Fantasia. One was from 1942, one looks as if it was a re-release from the late 60's, but the really interesting one is the early 1950's (I'm assuming that as, the tag line is "A Film Ten years before it's time". It introduces each sequence of Fantasia by stating the original composer and then footage from each section. What makes this even cooler, is that the "Pastoral Symphony" includes some of the footage that was deleted by Disney from Fantasia a very short while later, namely, the black centaurette footage!
Apparantly, it must have still been in the Fantasia prints until some time in the 50's, as it's show in the trailer.
and to top it all off, it had the "Clair De Lune" sequence that was cut from Fantasia ...
and all of this stuff, (except for Sorceror), being low fade.
Happy Happy!!
