Last week I placed an order for big reels with Goldberg Brothers in Denver, CO. The reels arrived today in pristine condition. They were new, but old stock. There was stiff cardboard rings taped inside the reels to prevent damage in shipment. The rivets clamping the flanges are well made and installed.
Anyone familiar with these heavier large reels will know they are made quite superb compared to the other brands out there.
Well it turns out they may be gone for good now.
I actually ordered 10 pcs at 1200 foot. I was told they would have to check stock to see what they had.
Later I received an email that said 2 were available, and the other 8 could be 1600 foot they knew I could use.
So the box came today, and yep, only 2 reels 1200 foot.
Which got me thinking. That it seems I have purchased the last of the super 8 1200 foot Goldberg reels.
I will not be held liable for another nail in the coffin of super 8. Rather, I’ll just enjoy my screenings.
And within the last 2 years, this is the 3rd time that I have placed an order for reels @ $300.00 for a case of 10. Wow. I be like, collecting films, here................
