Since both my Elmo ST1200 projectors appear to be unusable (they run very slowly), I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a replacement (other than another ST1200).
I do like the large spool capacity of the 1200, and have always been a big Elmo fan, but open to ideas - as I need to start screening my films soon.

Hi Miles do you have a 1.1 in either of the 2 elmo 1200`s.
If you have be handy to get an elmo st600 type machine.600 160 or 180 version.
Easy to move about and no clutch or shutter issues, and have spped adjust in the back via pots.
Get one and a new set of belts and pop in a 1.1 and your away.
But try to pick up a little used one thats only had a few kodak 50`s through it as they do wear in the film path after a while, but easily sorted out then.
Usually very reliable, and still have that Elmo something about them.

There was the excellent Fujiscope SH30 (Mono & Optical Playback). the Chinnon SS1200 Stereo, Yelco DS3000 (Stereo & Optical playback), all 1200' machines.

Or, if you want to go further up-range, there are the Fumeo and Beaulieu, both of which can accommodate spools of over 2000ft.

These may be fixable.
I had this problem on my own ST-1200. It turns out the motor pulley had worn down: the belt actually cut the sheave deeper. After that I got fewer FPS per RPMs of the motor shaft. (Van Eck has a replacement).
Also, have you lubed the machines recently? Fouled lube not only slowed mine down, but contributed to the wear on the pulley, which also slowed the machine...
If this process continued, by now I'd have a very elaborate slide projector!

Thanks. I'll look into all those suggestions for a replacement.
The problem with both my ST 1200's is that they were both fully serviced and "repaired" by a specialist here in LA. He didn't know why they were playing slow nor could fix it.
If anyone can recommend someone in LA who could take a final look at them that'd be great.
